Publishing Your Guide
A guide can be in one of two states: Draft or Published. Understanding the difference helps you control what guests can see and when.
Draft vs Published
Draft
- Only visible to you (the guide owner) when logged in
- Cannot be accessed by guests, even with a direct link
- A "DRAFT" badge appears on the property card in your dashboard
- You can continue editing without worrying about guests seeing incomplete content
Published
- Accessible to anyone with the guide link
- Sensitive content (door codes, WiFi password) is still masked for visitors unless they have an active share session
- A unique 8-character code is generated for the guide URL (e.g.
guestguide.cc/g/abc12345) - Each amenity also gets its own 8-character code and direct link
How to Publish
There are three places where you can publish a guide:
From the Creation Wizard
On the final step (Review & Publish), click the Publish Guide button. You'll be redirected to the dashboard.
From the Editor
Open your guide in the editor and click Publish Guide in the top toolbar. After publishing, you're redirected to the dashboard.
From the Dashboard
Hover over a draft property card and click the rocket icon that appears in the top right overlay. The guide is published without leaving the dashboard.
What Happens When You Publish
- All guide data is saved to your account
- An 8-character URL code is generated for the guide (if it doesn't have one yet)
- Each amenity receives its own 8-character code for direct linking
- The guide becomes visible at its public URL
- Sensitive content remains masked — guests need an active share session to see codes and passwords
Guide Limits
There is a per-account limit on published guides. If you exceed your limit when trying to publish, you'll see a "Limit exceeded" message. The guide remains as a draft until the limit is resolved.
After Publishing
Once published, you can:
- Edit the guide — click the pencil icon on the dashboard card or navigate to the editor. Changes are saved when you click Publish Guide again.
- Share with guests — create time-limited share sessions (see Sharing With Guests)
- Preview — click the eye icon on the dashboard card to view the guide as guests see it
- Delete — click the trash icon. You'll need to type
delete-my-guideto confirm. This permanently removes the guide and all associated data.
